To achieve:
Founded in 1885. The Detroit Curling Club is one of the oldest curling clubs in the United States. The club is a volunteer-based organization that provides its members opportunities to curl and participate in other social activities. In order to participate in the Club's activities you must be a member or a guest of a member. Our membership has various levels for an individual's involvement in the club and the sport. For more information on how to get started curling, look at our How to Join page or Community Education Classes. The club currently has 250 members ranging from the ages of 12-95.
Our facilities include the clubhouse, 4 sheets ice arena dedicated to curling, locker rooms and parking lot. Check out the location page for more information.
Our season begins in late October and ends in early April.
The Detroit Curling Club is also a member of The Great Lakes Curling Association, The United States Curling Association, and The Ontario Curling Association. When you join the club, you become a member of these organizations too. These affiliations give you the opportunity to participate in Bonspiels (weekend tournaments) at other curling clubs across the USA and Canada. You are eligible to compete and qualify for the US National Curling Championships and you will have the opportunity to qualify for a slot on the USA Olympic Curling team.
Curling at The Detroit Curling Club typically starts in late October and runs though early April. The specific date changes slightly year-to-year depending on the calendar and the summer usage of the arena.
Throughout the season, the week nights offer a fairly fixed schedule of repeating leagues each week on its given night. Weekends can see Special Events on Friday or Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon are rather flexible.
Special Events are just that occur at several times through the curling season, like the Opening Party, the Christmas Party and the Champagne Spiel.
